Preparation for the sales begins in earnest for Petal

Now that Petal has been weaned successfully, her preparation for the foal Sales at Tattersalls can begin in earnest.
Here she is, looking quite the thing in the paddock with her peer group on Friday 9 August, when Tony and David went to see her.
Petal looks really well and is coping well with being parted
from Jasmine Breeze. Mind you the weanlings still have
one senior mare keeping an eye on them at this stage.

By our next visit Petal and her foal cohort have been
on their own for a fortnight and are looking happy
and well.
Here is Petal saying hallo to Ann.
Whilst below she is making up to Barbara, before deciding
that it is time for a drink.

Petal as friendly as ever, when we went to visit her on Friday 5th October.
Our foal and her friends looked really well and happy in their paddock. They are doing most of the work themselves, getting ready for the sales.
Is she going to make up into a winning
racehourse? It would be great to think so.
Let's hope Petal catches the eye at Tattershalls,
or are we biased becasue we have become so
fond of her?

On a rather damp day, the last Wednesday in Novemeber, Petal found herself with a Lot 341 sticker on her hindquarters at the Tattersall's foal sale.
Our foal looked the part and was very well behaved, taking proceedings in her stride, thanks in no small part by the careful preparation she had received from Julian and Anne.
So it was with mixed feelings we took the news that Petal
did not reach her reserve of Gns 3,000 and returned
safely to Grove Farm.
