The Blakeney Breezes

Individually they did not set out to!
And until twenty minutes earlier they did not intend to!
But when Lot 2112 entered the sales ring at Tattersalls Mares’ sale on Thursday 1st
December 2011 Jan, Ann and Tony bid 1,400 Guineas to acquire this lovely mare
Jasmine Breeze
consigned by the National Studon behalf of the
Blakeney Owner-Breeders' Club.
Our intrepid trio were subsequently joined by Jan’s husband John,
as well as David, Barbara and Carol to form
The Blakeney Breezes syndicate,
owners of Jasmine Breeze.

Our mare's 2011 covering was by Monsieur Bond standing at
Norton Grove Stud in Malton. She is currently being cared for by Ann and Julian at Grove Farm Stud in Wickhambrook.
Jasmine Breeze has an encouraging record of foaling with no probems, and has been signed up for veterinary support from Rossdales.
We had expected Jasmine Breeze to give birth in the last week
of January, but reports from Julian had been that our mare was
very well in herself, but appeared to be holding back from
giving birth during a cold snap with snow on the ground
and sub-zero temperatures.

With a thaw, Jasmin Breeze gave birth at 7:30 am on Monday 6th February 2012 to a nice big healthy filly foal. Ann and Julian reported that mare and foal were doing well.
Despite being kept indoors by more snow, Jasmine Breeze
cheered up with a visit by Jan, who was able to take this photo.
So here is our Monsieur Bond foal at four days old showing off
for the camera! More of Jan's photos and photos of subsequent
vists on the foal's own page.

An early decision by The
Blakeney Breezes has been that our mare should walk out to a Newmarket stallion.
To this end Jasmine Breeze was covered by the up and coming stallion Archipenko on the afternoon of Friday 30 March 2012. She was scanned
15 days later, but found not to be in foal. Her second covering took place at noon on Sunday 22 April and the positive news at ten weeks later she is safely in foal. A recent scan indicates a very high probability, that her Archipenko foal will be a fillyca 23 days .
Archipenko stands at Lanwades Stud in Moulton, home of the handsome and popular Selkirk as well as the outstanding Hernando, sire of our favourite San Hernando; Sandy is now retired to Brick Kiln Farm.
Archipenko led this year's Thoroughbred Breeders Association
stallion parade at Tattersalls, opening their February sale.

Congratulations
To Danedream in a fantastic win in King George IV and Queeen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. What a boost for the fillies!
